William McCracken's signature at Blenheim House

Blenheim House, in Fairfax, Virginia, contains signatures from more than 120 Civil War Union soldiers. The house was built in 1859 and occupied by the Union from 1862-3. McCracken was in the area in Spring of 1862 as the Union Army marched on Richmond. Most of the signatures are found in the attic; McCracken signed the wall at the top of the stairs, to the right of the entrance to right-hand attic room.
